Longtime Malibu resident Barbara C. Kiewit died Sept. 5 of natural causes. She was 82.
A graduate of Santa Monica High School, Kiewit married John C. Blacker in 1943. The couple had two children, a daughter named Barbara R. Monell and a son named Coit D. Blacker. Kiewit was widowed in 1965. In 1967 she married James R. Kiewit, who was with her when she died.
In addition to her husband and children, Kiewit is survived by her sister, Monica R. Brown, her son-in-law, Joseph A. Monell, her son’s longtime partner, Louis E. Olave Jr.; grandchildren Michael Monell, Monical Schuler and Mark Monell; great-grandchildren Brett, Meagan, Coit, Reid and Paige; stepchildren Kristine Ragland, Daniel Kiewit and Steven Kiewit; three nieces and a nephew.
