Casandra Beth Schmitz died Feb. 17 after a long illness. She was 42.
Schmitz was born in West Allis, Wis. on June 18, 1964 and grew up in Huntington Beach. She attended Huntington Beach High School and Brooks College. She married Don Schmitz of Malibu in 1994.
Friends and family say Schmitz is remembered for her beauty and grace as an unselfish and compassionate friend. Her greatest accomplishment was her love and devotion to her three children, all students at Our Lady of Malibu School. She enjoyed entertaining, fashion and decorating, and adhered to a healthful diet, exercise and natural medicine. She had many friends in Malibu and Calabasas.
Schmitz is survived by her children Donald, Kade and Danika, grandmother Zella Dyson, parents Norm and Marlene Dyson, sister Theresa Kettler (and her husband Bill), brother Daryl Dyson (and his wife Patsy), nieces Emily Dyson and Klara Kettler and nephews Eric Dyson and Tommy Kettler.
A celebration of her life will take place at First Christian Church in Huntington Beach on March 3 at 11 a.m. Donations in her honor can be made to the Our Lady of Malibu Sports Fund or Art Fund.
