Hubbell Trading Post's Edison Eskeets shares presents on the history of Navajo rug-making.

For those looking to add to their home decor and/or jewelry collection, the Santa Monica Mountains visitor center this weekend will host a Navajo rug and jewelry show on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 24-25, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event, known as the Hubbell Trading Post, is the oldest running trading post in the Navajo Nation and will have rug-weavers and jewelry artists on hand to give demonstrations of their work.

A weaver spends an average of 400 hours producing a medium-sized rug, according to the Western National Parks Association.

The event will take place at the visitor center at King Gillette Ranch located near the intersection of Mulholland Highway and Las Virgenes/Malibu Canyon Road at 26876 Mulholland Highway in Calabasas.
