The driver of a white BMW was arrested on Thursday night in Malibu after leading the California Highway Patrol on a chase from East Los Angeles to Pacific Coast Highway at speeds topping 100 MPH.

Two other passengers were also pulled from the BMW 750i after the CHP performed at PIT maneuver in west Malibu on PCH, south of Lunita Drive. Early reports indicated that the driver was a Chinese exchange student who attends UC Irvine.

The chase began in East LA around 8:40 p.m. on the northbound 5 freeway, according to authorities. The driver next led officers onto the westbound 10 freeway. After exiting on PCH, the driver continued speeding north toward the county line until the PIT maneuver was successfully executed at 9:15 p.m.

A male and female passenger were later released, but as of Friday morning the driver remained in custody.
