The Malibu Library held its first Library Speaker series of 2014 on January 15 with multitalented comedy writer, director, producer, documentary filmmaker and author Tom Shadyac.
Â
Shadyac, known for such films as “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,” “Liar Liar,” “Nutty Professor,” “Bruce Almighty” and “Patch Adams,” packed the Civic Auditorium to standing room only. He shared inspirational stories and thought-provoking ideas, encouraging people to be who they are.Â
Â
“We are all a note in a symphony. Be the note, be who you are,” he said.Â
Â
Shadyac’s poignant stories and quick wit often had the crowd roaring with laughter.
Â
After the lecture, Shadyac gifted his book “Life’s Operating Manual” to the approximately 270 people attending.
Â
Malibu Library Manager Chase McMunn said, “We were very happy that everyone that wanted to attend was able to. Besides being a wonderful speaker, Tom was incredibly generous with his time, taking the time to speak to everyone that was waiting to have their book signed.”
