It looks like there will be one less burger joint in Malibu. On June 27, BurgerFi announced on social media that its Malibu location at the Lumber Yard would be closing. That location was the only BurgerFi in California. In a short Facebook post, the burger chain wrote: “We’d like to thank you for patronage but unfortunately we’ve closed our BurgerFi Malibu, CA location. We appreciate your support and encourage you to continue to follow us on social media and visit us at our other locations.”
The restaurant first opened its doors at the end of 2016, with a commitment to environmentally-friendly policies. In 2017, BurgerFi made the City of Malibu’s Clean Bay Certified list. (Restaurants that make the list are chosen based on their commitment to sustainability and clean water.)
A number of people lamented the loss of the burger chain. On social media, one commenter wrote, “Dang. There goes our family’s 2-3 times/month go-to restaurant in Malibu. The kids are totally crushed.”
The closest location is now in Tempe, Ariz.
