The Malibu Woman’s Club honored Sunnie Tucker with the First Founders Award for her 33 years of contributions to the organization, local students and the community.
Tucker moved to Malibu in 1971 with her husband and children. She quickly became a part of the community by teaching kindergarten and volunteering in numerous local programs. She joined the Malibu Woman’s Club in 1978 and has contributed much of her time to the organization, serving as president, corresponding secretary and as a committee member of the fifth grade essay contest and senior scholarship committees.
“She is seen as the ‘spiritual’ leader of the group,” Patti Eisenberg said. “She may have a soft voice, but the members have such ultimate respect for her that her comments and contributions have carried an authoritative effect.”
