Dorothy M. Kissel died on Nov. 2

Kissel was born in Webb City, Mo. in 1917 and moved with her family to West Los Angeles, where she attended University High School. She met her husband Harry in the church choir and they were married for 40 years until his death.

The Kissels purchased Paradise Cove in 1964. Dorothy Kissel ran the business until her retirement and is now being run by her children and grandchildren.

Dorothy and Harry Kissel enjoyed traveling and golf. On two separate occasions, Dorothy Kissel hit a hole in one at the Bel-Air Country Club on the same hole.

Kissel was involved in several charities. She supported the John Tracy Clinic, United Cerebral Palsy/Spastic Children’s Foundation, National Charity League and the Cosmos Club. She was also a Girl Scout leader.

Kissel is survived by her sons, Harry and Lee, daughter Nancy Lee Dahlberg, daughter-in-law Elise, son-in-law Rex, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to one of the charities Kissel supported.
