A female hiker was airlifted from Escondido Falls in Malibu on Sunday morning after breaking her ankle at the top of the falls, according to Los Angeles County Fire Battalion Chief Bob Haskell.
The injury was reported shortly after 11 a.m. She was hoisted from the scene by a LA County Fire helicopter.
“She needed to be airlifted because we didn’t want to cause her anymore injury,” Haskell said.
The woman, said to be in her 20s, was flown to Northridge Hospital.Â
This is the second hiker rescue in the Malibu area this weekend. On Saturday night, two stranded hikers were airlifted out of Topanga State Park. Neither hiker suffered any injuries.Â
