The Pepperdine beach volleyball team defeated both Saint Mary’s and Loyola Marymount with 5-0 sweeps to clinch the first-ever West Coast Conference (WCC) Championship title on Saturday, April 23, at the Ocean Park Volleyball Courts.

The Waves defeated Saint Mary’s, 3-2, in the first round of WCCs the day before, with victories posted by Skyler Caputo and Corinne Quiggle, Madalyn Roh and Anika Wilson, and Samantha Cash and Sarah Seiber.

On Saturday, the Waves swept Loyola Marymount to secure a rematch with Saint Mary’s in the championship match-up.

All but one of the championship matches resulted in a two-set decision, with Cash and Seiber, Quiggle and Caputo, and Roh and Wilson being the first three pairs to ensure the overall win. Delaney Knudsen and Kaity Bailey, and Taylor Racich and Heidi Dyer completed the sweep to end the day.

Next, the Waves will travel to Gulf Shores, Ala. to compete in NCAA Championships.
