Malibu resident Charles ‘Chaz’ Wenderoth died Aug. 31. He was 85 years old.
Born Oct. 2, 1923 in New York City to the late Grace Blake and Charles Wenderoth, the junior Wenderoth was a U.S. Navy aviation radioman, 3rd class and served on PBY sub chasers from September 1942 to December 1945. Wenderoth worked as an actor and entrepreneur. He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild as well as Captain of the Civil Air Patrol and a member of Our Lady of Malibu Catholic Church.
Wenderoth is survived by his wife of 43 years, Norma Martoccio, four children and two stepchildren-Monica (Skip) Morton of White Plains, N.Y.; Donna (Harry) Kirchner of Florida Keys; Samantha (Medley) of King Pleasant Hill, Calif.; Charles (Sharon) Wenderoth, Yorktown, N.Y.; Bob Marino of Yonkers, N.Y.; and Louise Cassella of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.–and 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one sister.
A memorial service will take place Sept. 19, 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Malibu, 3625 Winter Canyon Rd.
