Legendary big wave surfers Laird Hamilton and Dave Kalama led surfers in a paddle out ceremony to form a peace sign off the beach at Paradise Cove Saturday afternoon.

The visual of the floating peace sign is a compelling example of unity for an important cause: raise awareness about the threats to the ocean’s health.

The event was spearheaded by Malibu environmentalists Kelly and Ron Meyer

in partnership with the Natural Resources Defense Council and Paradise Cove Beach Cafe.
