The Miami Hurricanes men’s basketball team defeated Pepperdine on Sunday, 86-63. The Waves (4-12) came within seven points of the Hurricanes (14-1) early in the second half before Miami pulled away. Keion Bell led the Waves with 22 points. Thompson had 15 points, and Dane Suttle Jr. added 13 points. James Dews paced Miami with 21 points. “I like to play tough teams in the preseason that will overmatch us because once we get good, those are the types of teams we will play in the postseason,” Pepperdine coach Tom Asbury said. The Waves open the conference portion of their season on Saturday at home against Loyola Marymount at seven.
