A tree fell at 27420 Pacific Coast Highway, blocking one westbound lane of traffic Thursday morning.

Update, 10:50 a.m.: The westbound number two lane on PCH in front of Geoffrey’s Restaurant has been reopened after a fallen tree partially blocked the roadway.

A westbound portion of the number two lane on Pacific Coast Highway near Escondido Beach in Malibu closed Thursday morning after a tree fell and blocked the roadway, according to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s station.

The tree fell at 27420 PCH around 9:30 a.m., according to Lt. Matthew Squire, on a stretch between Winding Way and Meadows Court, just in front of Geoffrey’s Restaurant.

“We have a Community Services Authority unit out there, Caltrans is rolling on it, too,” Squire said. “Because it’s westbound there’s no backup or anything. I’m sure Caltrans will clear it pretty fast.”

It’s not clear what caused the tree to fall.
