Cindy Herron, who championed the cause of raising money toward cancer research while going through her own battle with the disease, died April 23. She was 46.
Herron was born in Santa Monica and raised in Malibu. She attended Malibu schools and Santa Monica High School. Herron worked for many years in restaurant management, most recently at the Cheesecake Factory. She raised lots of money for cancer and AIDS research.
Herron is survived by her parents, Meredith and Mark; brothers, Rick and Mike; sisters-in-law, Julie and Kristal; nephews, Nicholas, Miles and Casey and her niece, Jessica.
A service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Our Lady of Malibu Church, located at 3625 Winter Canyon Road. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent in Herron’s name to the Angeles Clinic Foundation for Melanoma Research, 2001 Santa Monica Blvd. Suite 560 W, Santa Monica, CA 90404.
