Suspect arrested in Malibu shooting

LA County Sheriffs

A 49-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening injuries when he was shot in the chest Wednesday morning in Malibu. A short time later, Sheriff’s deputies arrested 27-year-old Patrick Leach on suspicion of attempted murder, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials.

Deputies responded to a “shots fired” call at 9:30 a.m. in the 27000 block of West Winding Way and found the victim sitting on the ground with a chest wound after an apparent neighbor dispute.

A man driving a black SUV was seen leaving the shooting scene shortly before deputies arrived, according to a witness. Deputies later saw the SUV near Kanan and Cornell roads in Agoura Hills and pulled Leach over. He was taken into custody and is being held on $500,000 bail.
