Regarding the recent Malibu Times article on the approved Corral Canyon traffic signal, I would like to voice my disagreement with Scott Palamar who opposes the signal. In my experience, the intersection is extremely dangerous and I have seen some breathtakingly reckless maneuvers. For example, while I have been waiting for a safe break in traffic, drivers behind me have entered the oncoming traffic lane on Corral Canyon and jumped ahead of two or three vehicles to enter Pacific Coast Highway.
Mr. Palamar says, “Traffic signals often decrease overall safety.” I am not sure what the evidence is for his assertion, but I for one will feel much happier driving to the store with my wife, young son and grandfather when a traffic signal is installed on Corral Canyon.
