Annie Elizabeth McLaughlin-Witt, a longtime Point Dume resident, passed peacefully on Oct. 16, surrounded by her family, at the age of 72. She was born to the late Col. and Mrs. William McLaughlin on Mar. 14, 1941, in Brightwaters, Long Island, N.Y.
McLaughlin-Witt moved to Malibu in the late 1960s with her then husband Paul Witt and raised their three children, Christopher, Anthony and Genevieve.
“She was a loving mother not only to her children, but many children around the Point referred to her as a second ‘mom,’” loved ones said.
McLaughlin-Witt was an amazing artist, gardener and lover of animals. She had an infectious laugh and love of life that will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
McLaughlin-Witt is survived by her three children, Christopher Witt, Anthony Witt and Genevieve Witt; and four grandchildren, Jacob, Isabella, Samantha and Xavier.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Agoura Shelter or Villalobos Rescue.
A celebration of life reception will take place at the home of her daughter Genevieve in Malibu on Nov. 1 from 4 p.m.-7:30 p.m. For more information, please contact genevievewitt@mac.com.
