Tennis player to compete in Germany

Amy Alcini of Malibu has been invited and accepted to be a member of this year’s 2003 Suzanne Lenglen World Cup Tennis Team. The USTA selected Amy and three other women in the Women’s National 35 division to represent the United States in this world competition, which consists of 16 participating countries.

It will be held in Hamburg, Germany on Aug. 11-16 at the Racquet Inn. Court surface is red clay. Alcini will then compete a week later at the ITF (International Tennis Federation) World Individual Championship on August 17-24 at Deutscher Tennis Verein, Hannover, Germany.

Last month, Alcini won third place in women’s doubles with partner Jami Patterson at the National VSTA Women’s 30s grass court tennis tournament in Scottsdale, Ariz. She also placed third in mixed doubles with partner Eric Styrmoe, and took fourth place in women’s singles.
