The Malibu High School varsity football team lost last week to Los Angeles Baptist, 34-31. Despite falling behind 27-7 in the first quarter, the Sharks battled back late in the game, holding the Knights scoreless until the last minute of the fourth quarter. Junior tailback Matthew Mason scored two rushing touchdowns, senior fullback Kyle Parker contributed a touchdown on the ground and senior Justin Saul added a touchdown and a 34-yard field goal.
The Sharks junior varsity team earned their fourth consecutive victory last week against the Knights by a score of 27-6, propelling them to 4-1 on the season. The junior varsity squad returns to action at home Thursday at 4 p.m. against Grace Brethren.
The loss drops the varsity Sharks’ record to 1-4 as they enter league play this week at home on Friday against Grace Brethren at 3 p.m.
“I’m feeling nothing but good things,” Malibu head coach Ray Humphrey said. “They played like I knew they could play, and they didn’t stop. I feel like we can go into league and do what we set out to do.”
