The California Department of Transportation will close one lane (the lane closest to the shoulder) on southbound Pacific Coast Highway from 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8, to early morning Monday, Dec. 11. The closure will extend for approximately one half mile, just south of Big Rock.

The purpose of the closure is to allow construction crews to bring in large cranes that will be used to repair a sinkhole caused by a water main break on Dec. 2. When the lane reopens, it is expected that repairs will be complete, and lanes will be restored to their pre-break configuration.

Motorist are advised that the speed limit in the area is 25 mph, and that fines are doubled in construction zones.
