There was little gloom in sight during President’s Day weekend, and 98,000 people took advantage of the warm February weather by visiting Malibu beaches on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, according to LA County Lifeguard Capt. Tim McNulty.
By comparison, 90,000 people visited Malibu beaches during President’s Day weekend in 2013.
Lifeguards this year made one rescue and responded to 10 medical calls, the most serious being a person with a possibly broken leg. The victim was taken to a local hospital.
Authorities also made 407 “ordinance enforcements,” meaning those in violation of any county beach ordinances, such as dogs or alcohol on the beach, were issued citations.
