A series of Pepperdine’s Women’s Tennis Players were in top form for the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships.
Ashley Lahey experienced the most success, participating in both singles and duo brackets.
The freshman star ascended through the singles bracket. Lahey ranked number five in the Oracle/ITA newcomer rankings and accomplished her first win as a Wave in singles.
Lahey teamed up with sophomore Dzina Milovanovic for the championships’ duo bracket. The two asserted their quality performance over the West Virginian competition, but were unable to produce a similar result to make it to the qualifying bracket.
Senior Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai made her own mark on the singles bracket with a 6-4, 6-2 victory against her Clemson opponent, but eventually fell to a USC competitor.
The No. 98-ranked junior Laura Gulbe performed well in her first round before the Kansas’ opponent left the court with an injury. Gulbe strived for success against San Jose State’s next competitor but fell after three sets.
The championship will continue throughout the rest of the week.
