Pepperdine sophomore A.J. Puckett pitched a complete-game shutout against Hawaii on Saturday.

Pepperdine baseball (7-5) won three of four games against Hawaii during a homestand last weekend, including a 10-5 win on Sunday that saw the Waves rack up 15 hits.

After losing the first game of the series on Thursday 15-8, the Waves swept the rest of the series, including a complete-game 2-0 shutout thrown by sophomore A.J. Puckett on Saturday.

“My fastball command was feeling really good today and whatever pitch coach called I committed 100% to and attacked downhill,” Puckett said. “The wind was blowing in, so I got pretty lucky there and wanted to attack with the fastball. That was my best friend today.”

He is now 2-1 this season and has an ERA of 2.27.

Friday’s game was a 16-1 blowout, as 10 different players notched at least one hit during the game.

On Sunday, the Waves had another offensive outburst, including a home run from junior first baseman Brad Anderson and a four-run seventh inning.

Pepperdine was scheduled to play Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday evening, followed by a three-game series at the University of Washington beginning Friday.
