The Point Dume Book Club met last month to discuss its selection “Becoming Alice.” The book’s author, Alice Rene, attended the meeting as an honored guest. She discussed her work, which chronicles her Jewish family’s harrowing escape from the Nazis and their struggle as immigrants in the United States. Rene has a master’s degree in social welfare and lives with her husband in Southern California.
