Malibu resident Julia Townsend (pictured) won the National Championships in the intermediate girls’ 3000 meter race at the 2009 AAU Indoor National Track & Field Championships in Merrillville, In. on Feb. 21.
Townsend ran a personal best time of 21:00.6, which was 26 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
Townsend is a sophomore at Louisville High School in Woodland Hills and competes on their varsity track team.
