The Malibu High School girls’ varsity basketball team played two Frontier League games last week, both of which were led in scoring by co-captain and senior Dominique Magee.
The Sharks defeated Santa Paula 47-44. After trailing throughout the game, Santa Paula staged a comeback to close the Sharks’ lead to two points in the final minute. But Magee, who scored 16 points in the first game, made three consecutive free throws to preserve the win for Malibu. Co-captains Danielle Bush and Evelyn Quartz dropped in 11 and eight points, respectively, as the Sharks moved into second place in the league standings.
In the second game, Malibu lost to Carpinteria, 35-32. Magee led the Sharks with 13 points.
The Sharks will travel to Santa Barbara for their next game against Bishop Diego High School.
