Malibu resident Robert Rockwell, an actor who played numerous TV and film characters, died of cancer on Saturday. He was 82.
Rockwell was known for his role as the romantic interest of Eve Arden in the ’50s sitcom “Our Miss Brooks,” which began as a radio show. His career included dozens of radio programs and more than 350 television shows spanning 50 years. He had his own series, “Man From Blackhawk,” where he played a Western-style investigator. More recently he appeared in such popular TV shows as “Growing Pains,” “Beverly Hills 90210” and “Diff’erent Strokes,” to name just a few. He was also in “War of the Worlds,” one of more than 30 films in which he appeared.
