Malibu resident Virgil James Brooks, known as James, died June 20. He was 83.
Brooks was a long-standing agent and broker for Farmer’s Insurance. He is survived by his loved one of 22 years, Cecile Dollinger; his children, Ronald (spouse Loll, son Ronald Brooks, Jr.), Laurie and Kevin Brooks. He is also survived by Dollinger’s children: Mitchell Rosenberg (spouse Melanie and children Ashley, Andrew and Paige), Karen Rosenberg (spouse Bennett and son Martin Auslaender) and Gale Rosenberg.
“James was a truly loving gentleman with a heart of gold and marvelous positive attitude. He will be missed by all,” his family wrote in a statement.
An informal memorial service will be held at the Tivoli Cove Recreation Room, located at 26665 Seagull Way in Malibu from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on June 26. There will be signs directing attendees to the complex, parking and recreation room.
In lieu of flowers, Brooks’ family requests donations be made to Dr. David Sarraf, who treated Brooks for the past several years. Donations will go to the doctor’s research studies at the Jules Stern Eye Clinic at UCLA for Macular Degeneration.
