The Malibu Presbyterian Church and Preschool fundraiser, which took place on Dec. 1 in conjunction with the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Annual Community Garage Sale, raised approximately $6,500. The money raised will go to the rebuilding fund for Malibu Presbyterian.

Residents and merchants from Malibu and many other areas-including Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades-helped make the fundraiser possible.

Kathryn Palmer and Nanette McNulty, mothers of Malibu Presbyterian Preschool students and coordinators of the fundraiser, said they were heartened by the positive response received from those approached for donations to the event.

“I am absolutely bowled over by the gracious and generous response I received from those I solicited for donations,” Palmer said. “Coordinating this event with Nanette has been a privilege; it has given me a renewed sense of the true holiday spirit of giving.”

While the rebuilding process is entering the planning stage, Malibu Presbyterian is holding its Sunday services at alternative locations. Beginning this Sunday, the location will be Webster Elementary School, located 3602 Winter Canyon Road. The preschool children, meanwhile, are attending classes at the Malibu Jewish Center and Synagogue.
