Malibu High School girls’ junior varsity and varsity basketball teams travelled down the coast to Santa Monica to play the St. Monica Warriors. Both Malibu teams were defeated. The junior varsity lost 42 – 10, and the varsity team lost 69 – 32.
St. Monica’s varsity team is comprised of seven returning players from last season. Malibu’s varsity co-captains Danielle Bush and Domo Magee continued to lead the team in scoring; Bush with 14 points and Magee with 13. Forward Sierra Zontelli played with effective rebounding at both ends of the court.
The Sharks’ varsity head coach Andy Meyer was very pleased with his team’s effort and competitive spirit.
“The girls never quit, and every game, win or lose, the young players get stronger and more confident as we approach league play,” Meyer said.
The varsity Sharks will participate in a 12-team tournament at Van Nuys High school, their second tournament of the year, over Winter Break.
