Webster Student Makes Professional Orchestra Debut

Aidan Fu

Webster Elementary School first grader Aidan Fu will play his debut with a professional orchestra this coming weekend.

The young violinist was one of seven student artists chosen to perform with the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic Orchestra as part of their Opus 44 concerts on Jan. 8 and 10. Opus concerts are run by a nonprofit that supports student musicians, and the winners of their annual concerto competition get to perform with the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic.

Fu has been playing violin since age two. He was recently named the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District primary first place winner for music composition in the PTA reflections contest and played as a guest artist alongside Malibu middle and high school orchestras at age five.

Fu’s Opus concert performances will take place at Camarillo United Methodist Church on Jan. 8 at 7:30 p.m and Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza on Jan. 10. at 2:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at tophil.org.
