Pepperdine’s women’s basketball team ended their three-game conference winning streak with a loss to Portland Saturday afternoon. The 71-61 defeat was the first for the Waves in this year’s West Coast Conference and, alternatively, the first win for the Pilots.

Senior guard and team captain Allie Green had an impressive game, becoming the match’s overall leading scorer with 26 points on the board. Freshman guard Yasmine Robinson-Bacote contributed 12 total points, two of which resulted in the Waves’ first lead during the game in the third. But ultimately, Portland’s 40 percent shooting average from three and 38-29 rebound advantage gave them the push needed to take home the win.

The Waves are set for another road match against Loyola Marymount tonight at 7 p.m., before heading to San Diego Saturday.
