Malibu Rotary Club Hosts Talk about Special Olympics

Donna Brown and Dustin Plunkett visit Malibu Rotary Club’s weekly meeting to share about the 2015 Special Olympics.

The Malibu Rotary Club hosted Dustin Plunkett and Donna Brown, who shared about volunteer opportunities for Malibu residents in the 2015 Special Olympics. Brown is Vice President of volunteers and Plunkett is Games Associate and Uniforms Coordinator, as well as Volunteer Workshop Manager for the Special Olympics Games, which will take place in L.A. on July 25 through Aug. 2. 

Part of the talk was a series of short videos and an explanation of the history of the Special Olympics. Plunkett shared that his involvement in the program has changed his life. 

The 2015 Special Olympics will feature 25 Olympic-style sports in venues throughout L.A., including aquatics, gymnastics, track and field, basketball and more. Festivities will kick off at the Opening Ceremony, which will take place on July 25 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The games are expected to attract 80,000 spectators.Â
