City officials this week have scheduled groundbreaking ceremonies for two new traffic improvement projects affecting Pacific Coast Highway—one to install a dedicated left-hand turn lane at Big Rock Drive and another to improve the truck arrester bed at Kanan Dume Road.
The Big Rock ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday “in the vicinity” of the project site. The Kanan Dume project will kick off with a ceremony at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
It’s unclear whether the ceremonies will take place along the side of the road. City spokesperson Sandi Turner said both ceremonies would be “in safe locations” but did not disclose the precise spots for each event.
