Pepperdine men’s basketball came up short in its nonconference match against Portland State last Sunday. A series of turnovers and a 51.6 percent game shooting average from the Waves lead the Vikings to a 91-85 victory.
In spite of the defeat, Waves’ determination to take home the match helped the team experience quite a few game highlights. Senior forward Chris Reyes achieved his third double-double of the season, as well as a career-high of 24 points and 11 rebounds during Sunday’s match. Freshman guard Knox Hellums and senior guard Lamond Murray Jr. scored 19 points each, with senior guard Jeremy Major trailing directly behind with 17 points.
Although the Waves broke the Vikings’ lead down to two points a few times throughout the match, the team was unable to bring home the win.
Pepperdine is set to compete against Belmont in its final nonconference home game on Dec. 3.
