The Malibu Search and Rescue (SAR) Team responded to its second call of the day at Malibu Creek State Park last Sunday, July 30, according to information published online by the organization. The man, in his 20s, fell 50 feet while on the popular but dangerous Rock Pool trail. He suffered an open leg fracture and was later airlifted to a UCLA hospital by the LA County Fire Air Operations.
The number of rescues Malibu SAR has undertaken in 2017 is on pace to double numbers reported last year, with about 100 rescues performed already. In recent years, SAR has completed from 90-130 rescues per year.
