The Nautica Malibu Triathlon will partner with Equinox for their 27th annual race at Zuma Beach this weekend, Sept. 7-8.
The event is expected to host more than 5,500 athletes, celebrities, philanthropists and spectators all joining together to benefit the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ Pediatric Cancer Research Program. The proceeds from this year’s triathlon will go to CHLA’s Basic and Translational Cancer Research Program of the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases. According to sponsors, “Last year, the event raised more than $1.17 million with the help of celebrity participants including Alison Sweeney, James Marsden and Rainn Wilson.”
The Nautica Malibu Triathlon features two races, both of which benefit CHLA. The Herbalife International Distance Race will take place on Saturday, September 7 with athletes competing in a 1.5k swim, 40k bike race and 10k run. The Classic Distance Race will take place on Sunday, September 8th will a half-mile swim, 18-mile bike ride and 4-mile run. While the athletes participate in the races, other participants can enjoy the Nautica Kids Run, Tot Trot and Fun Zone.
Drivers should expect delays along the PCH on the West Side of Malibu on both Saturday and Sunday.
