The Waves fell hard to Saint Mary’s, 81-60, in a home West Coast Conference (WCC) match this past Saturday — descending to 5-14 overall and 3-5 WCC.

This marks Pepperdine’s second loss since senior captain and second-leading scorer Allie Green has been sitting out for an injury.

Junior Kim Jacobs and redshirt-freshman Sydney Bordonaro led the Pepperdine offense, putting up 14 points each. Sophomore Paige Fecske joined the two with 10 points on the board, and redshirt-freshman Megan House had an impressive eight rebounds and three blocks in the match.

Pepperdine was able to out-shoot their opponent 43.3 percent to 42.5 percent during the game, but a nearly five-minute scoreless streak in the fourth helped the Gaels gain a dominating lead — taking home the win.

The Waves will face Portland Thursday for a 7 p.m. conference match, before heading to Spokane, Wash. for a conference event against Gonzaga Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m.
