The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for the Santa Monica Mountains until 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The warning cited low humidity in the mountains and gusts of up to 50 MPH, meaning critical fire weather conditions for the area. Coastal regions could experience gusts of up to 40 MPH. Winds are expected to “diminish” somewhat on Monday afternoon and then increase again overnight, according to a release from the NWS.
The warning went into effect Monday morning at 10.Â
