The Pacific Coast Highway partially closed near Big Rock Drive Tuesday due to low-hanging wires blocking multiple lanes.

All eastbound lanes and one westbound lane were closed and drivers were advised to expect delays.

It is unclear what caused the wires to hang low.

Sgt. Del Rio of the Malibu/Lost Hill’s Sheriff’s Station said sheriff’s deputies and the fire department responded to reports of hot wires hanging low. There was an early report of a possible brush fire, but Sgt. Del Rio said there was no fire.

Southern California Edison representative Mark Olson said there were no reported power outages. He said the wires likely belonged to a telephone company

As of 4 p.m. the wires have been removed and traffic has cleared.Â
