Pacific Coast Highway will be closed intermittently near Point Mugu Wednesday while Caltrans conducts rock mitigation work on the slopes overlooking the highway.Â
PCH will be closed in phases in both directions from south of Los Posas Road to north of Deer Creek Road from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Caltrans advised motorists to expect 20- to 30-minute delays and to consider alternate routes. Flaggers will direct traffic and message signs will be posted to advise motorists of delays.
The closures will allow crews to use a helicopter to install rock fencing along slopes to prevent rocks from falling onto the PCH in the next phase of a rock mitigation project. In the first phase, rock climbers removed rocks that could potentially fall onto the highway from slopes overlooking the PCH.Â
