I don’t know who “NAPSA” is, but they donated three articles to page A6 on Feb. 6. One of them was about the benefits of our Nuclear Power plants. Please excuse me, but isn’t the spent nuclear fuel from these sites one of the most worrisome byproducts of modern times? This extreme toxin was the subject of a major furore in Nevada recently, as the government and private industry do not actually know how to get rid of it, so the vote was to bury it outside Las Vegas, where technically it could drip into the water table. The same thing happened in New Mexico when I lived there; a huge public outcry because it had been decided to dump it into Carlsbad Caverns’ salt beds.
In my humble opinion, we need to rethink our behavior regarding what really is the destruction of Earth’s future. Detailing Mr. Hussein seems like small potatoes when facing the bigger picture. Please let’s have no more advertisements for the innocuousness of nuclear fuels, OK?
