Three reasons to believe another school year has gone by and the district is still not listening to us or taking the PCB issue seriously:
#1. Last week, an email from MHS asked us parents to let the school know if our child/ren are returning to MHS next year. They stated, “We are hoping that everyone is coming back, but know that some people are moving out of the area.” Demographics continue to be blamed for low enrollment. Our voices have once again fallen on deaf ears.
#2. The science room at Juan Cabrillo Elementary School, which tested positive for extremely high concentrations of PCBs (440,000 ppm) is being remediated over the summer, however the art room — two doors away — is not because it was not tested. Do not test plus do not know equals do nothing.
#3. Another Malibu teacher was diagnosed with thyroid problems this week. This teacher works in a room with some the highest concentrations of PCBs. How many teachers need to get sick before the District really takes this problem seriously?
