A 28-year-old woman is rescued from Malibu Creek State Park after injuring her ankle.

A woman attempting to climb rocks near a rock pool in Malibu Creek State Park had to be rescued on Sunday after injuring her ankle.

The 28-year-old Camarillo resident fell on a cliffside as she attempted to climb in an area known as “the gorge.”

Crews from the Malibu Search and Rescue Team, Los Angeles County Fire Department and California State Parks worked to rescue the woman. The team had to climb an opposing rock face before descending via rope to get to the injured climber. She was then strapped into a rescue basket and taken across the rock pool via boat. An ambulance transported her to a local hospital for treatment.
