Pepperdine University freshman Benjamin Tran was selected to be part of the U.S. Lifesaving Youth National Team, members of which will represent the U.S. Lifesaving Association at the 2017 DHL International Surf Rescue Challenge at Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, in November.
This has been a busy year for Tran: He became an Eagle Scout for Malibu’s Troop 224, graduated from Ocean Lifeguard for LA County and graduated from Malibu High School. He participated in a variety of activities at MHS, including swim, water polo and the orchestra. The graduate was named Tri-Valley League’s Swimmer of the Year.Â
Tran has been a seasonal lifeguard for the state of California since 2015.
