Malibu native Joey Guglielmo will travel to Kenya this summer with Berklee College of Music’s Africa Scholar’s Program. Berklee College of Music, which studies contemporary music, will be holding auditions and interviews in Kenya. The program is designed to offer talented musicians the chance to receive scholarships. The program is also intended to increase the number of African students, fostering a significant cultural exchange; and increase awareness of the college among African musicians. Berklee has awarded $2.3 million in scholarships since instituting the program in 2008. This year, up to $1 million in scholarships will be awarded.
