My family and I were very happy to celebrate the long-in-the-works opening of the public beach that bears my father’s name. I read with interest some of the comments on the article “Dan Blocker Beach unveiled to public” on Nov. 19 and can appreciate the public debate, but, in the end, you have to make public beaches available the public. To that end, there is still work to be done at Dan Blocker County Beach. A walking access along the coast with access to the water seems a minimal requirement. Forcing people to climb over fences to get to the water wouldn’t have been my father’s objective and it shouldn’t be ours.
