The City of Malibu announced Tuesday it plans to start the first ever adult kickball league on September 15. The announcement comes on the heels of the success of the city’s Adult Sports Programs.

The registration process for a team to join the league is now open. A $150 deposit is required from the team manager before each team will be able to compete in a eight-week-long, round robin-style tournament against other teams, including playoffs and a championship game. The champions will be given an end-of-season championship plaque, and all of the participating teams will play on Sundays starting at 3 p.m. at Malibu Bluffs Park.

The league is only open to players 18 and over in the Malibu area and will run from Sept. 15 to Nov. 3.

A minimum of 10 players is required per roster, and four female teammates must be present at each game. Maximum team size is 18 players, and managers can add or drop players up until the third week of the season. All players must complete an individual registration form.

As a way to celebrate the beginning of this new league, all players will receive City of Malibu adult sports apparel.
