Former Malibu resident Elliot Wagner died on Sunday. He was 84.
Wagner was born in Brooklyn on Aug. 4, 1923. He attended the University of Missouri, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
Wagner moved to Palm Springs in 1951. He lived in Malibu for several years.
Wagner’s son, Jefferson, wrote that his father had “fond memories of Paradise Cove Pier when dinghies could be rented, and of Malibu Pier when Aquarius and Lenbrook were running.”
Wagner was a devout humanist, and attended Willamette University classes until the age of 75.
He is survived by his four sons, Jefferson, Sam, Danton and Cyrus, and seven grandchildren. His lifetime partner, Patricia Ann Wagner, died in 1991.
